Central Board of Indirect Tax ( CBIC )
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs ( CBIC ) has extended the due date for GST Annual Returns ( GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C) for the financial year 2020-21 to February 28th, 2021.
In view of the difficulties expressed by the taxpayers in meeting this time limit, the Govt has decided to further extend the due date for furnishing GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C for the financial year 2019-20 to 31.03.2021 with the approval of the Election Commission of India.
Extend Due Date for GST Annual Return
CBIC Tweeted on 30th Dec mid-night “The due date for furnishing annual return in FORM GSTR-9 & self-certified reconciliation statement in FORM GSTR-9C for the financial year 2020-21 has been extended from 31.12.2021 to 28.02.2022. Notification No.40/2021-Central Tax dated 29.12.2021 to this effect has been issued.”
GSTR-9 is mandatory for having an aggregate turnover of Rs. 2 crores and GSTR-9C is mandatory for having an aggregate turnover of Rs. 5 crores.
