The deadline for Income Tax Return (ITR) has been extended keeping in mind the unprecedented Covid-19 situation. The due dates for the ITR e-filing and Tax Audit Report submit under Income Tax Act, 1961 have been extended to provide relief to the taxpayers. However, many of the taxpayers have issues regarding the extended due dates.
Income Tax Due Date Extended for AY 2021-22, “On consideration of difficulties reported by taxpayers & other stakeholders in electronic filing of certain Forms under the IT Act,1961, CBDT has further extended the due dates for electronic filing of such Forms vide Circular No.15/2021 dated 03.08.2021.” –ITD
Income Tax Return Revised Last Date
- ITR of Individuals, Professionals, Small Businesses, etc (Non-Audit) due date has extended for September 30, 2021.
- Tax Audit Report under Transfer Pricing (Section 92E) date has been extended to November 30, 2021.
- Income Tax Return of persons (other than persons mentioned above) due date has extended to November 30, 2021.
- Tax Audit Report filing's last date is October 31, 2021.
- Income Tax Return of persons requiring Tax Audit Report under Transfer Pricing (Section 92E) deadline is December 31, 2021.
- Late/Revised Income Tax Return due date is January 31, 2022.

However, the original income tax due date has passed on 31st July 2021 and taxpayers face late fees issues during return filing. Now Govt provided relief to the taxpayers after the date has been extended.
